Sarah Shu, CFP® & EA
Sarah is the Founder and Lead Planner of Coastline T&F, with a deep passion for tax-aware, holistic financial planning. She specializes in helping individuals and families navigate complex financial decisions as they approach—and move through—retirement. During times of transition and uncertainty, Sarah works closely with clients to bring clarity, structure, and confidence to their financial lives.
Her work spans a wide range of planning needs, including choosing the most appropriate investment vehicles and ownership structures, maximizing retirement income while minimizing taxes, transferring wealth to the next generation or charitable causes, preparing for rising healthcare costs, and managing wealth in a thoughtful, long-term manner. Every plan Sarah builds is tailored to each client’s unique circumstances—never a one-size-fits-all solution.
Sarah is also committed to financial education. She creates educational content and videos for her community to help demystify taxes and explain how tax decisions impact long-term financial outcomes. Through real-life scenarios faced by families nearing retirement, she breaks down complex topics into clear, practical insights that are easy to understand and apply.
When Sarah entered the financial services industry, she noticed that much of the advice being offered was “cookie-cutter”—often based on assumptions rather than understanding the client as a person. Sarah takes a different approach. She believes meaningful planning starts with asking the right questions and, most importantly, listening with care. She takes the time to understand each client’s story, values, goals, and vision for the future.
Sarah holds the Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) designation and proudly serves as a CFP Board Ambassador, upholding the profession’s highest ethical and fiduciary standards. She is also an Enrolled Agent (EA), which grants her unlimited representation rights before the Internal Revenue Service.
Originally from China, Sarah earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Nanjing University. After settling in the United States, she built her career in the financial services industry, combining technical expertise with a deeply personal, client-first philosophy.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, staying active through biking and fitness, and practicing the violin. She lives in Fleming Island, Florida, with her husband James and their three children—Alexander, Willow, and Eleanor—where they enjoy water activities in the summer and outdoor biking weather in the winter.
